Wednesday night, Oct. 21st, 2015 was an exciting landmark occasion for the MADA Community Center. MADA hosted supporters, volunteers and friends at the grand opening of their new facility and “home” at 6875 Decarie Blvd.
Guests enjoyed hors d’oeuvres and cocktails as they proudly celebrated with MADA in their new dining hall.
The evening’s highlight was a ‘Ribbon Cutting,’ ceremoniously performed cut by Montreal’s Mayor Denis Coderre and Israeli Consulate General Ziv Nevo Kulman.
Other participants in the ceremony were Samuel Gewurz, event co-chairs Doreen Brown Green & Carolyn Steinman, City Councillor Lionel Perez, City Councillor and borough mayor for CDN-NDG Russell Copeman, Rabbi Isaac Gniwisch, President of the Board Pesach Nussbaum & MADA’s Director Rabbi C.S. Cohen.
There was a heartfelt program led by Samuel Gewurz. Debra Margles touched the crowd when she spoke about her experiences as a MADA volunteer. Everyone was moved by Liat Urman’s personal testimony of how MADA helped a struggling family in need.
May the building of MADA’s new home help Montreal’s community continue to unite together as partners in the battle against poverty and loneliness… building hope and dignity.
Montreal would not be the same without MADA.
MADA would not be the same without YOU.
