What to do when you are faced with challenges? If you are a part of the MADA family, you strive harder to help.
Just ask MADA volunteer Lori Basal, who headed a special project that was bringing 2000 Rosh Hashana food baskets to folks in need. “This is a project MADA took on because the organization that usually did it was unable to this year,” she said. “Considering the challenges that MADA is facing ….a recent move to new premises…major renovations…figuring out how to accomplish everything…that’s what I call going the extra mile!”

Well, thanks to wonderful volunteers like Lori we delivered the baskets AND we are also gearing up for our traditional Rosh Hashana outreach. Hundreds of volunteers came in to peel, chop, process and cook over 12,000 pounds of fresh produce, 2500 pounds of salmon and 1800 chickens: all for the festive dinners we are having on September 13 and 14 at twelve locations throughout the city. More volunteers will be serving these delicious meals to thousands in our community who would otherwise be alone over the holiday. As always, there is never a charge to our patrons and guests.
Yes, everyone has challenges but with G-d’s help and yours we are living up to the Lubavitcher Rebbe’s directive “Let no Jew be left behind.”
